[Persephone is sitting in a large chair that's from her room in Hades, she looks amused in-spite of this. Also, she looks more than a little like a goth. This is intentional. Her voice is soft and amused.]

So this is where all of those souls that Hades expected have gone missing too. Oh, don't worry, I'm not here to take you to him; no, anything that makes my husband angry is something that I firmly endorse. I will admit it's odd to be surrounded by souls that still have corporal forms. I am told that there is a garden... I'd like to stick my fingers in the dirt if possible.

My name is Persephone. Yes that one.

The Admiral does seem like he has a sense of humor.

I've come to earn my way out of hell, actually.

If that's what you want to call it. I've got some less polite terms, myself.

Ah, you made a deal, then.

I did. Wouldn't you if you were me?

If there was no other way, sure I would - I'm no stranger to a good deal. Lording over us lost souls ain't the bad part of this boat anyhow.

This is not lording over lost souls. This is...a pleasure cruise.

Who are you, mortal?

To you and the wardens, maybe. For the inmates among us...

Dr. Etienne Facilier.

[pause of surprise, he doesn't usually throw his first name out there]

From 1926 New Orleans. Former bokor, current inmate.

Do you go by Dr. Facilier?

They take you out of time as well. The admiral is more power than I would have thought.

'Round here, yes. Back home, lots of folks just called me the Shadow Man.

Admiral can snatch up gods, tell 'em they've been naughty, and seal 'em up here 'til they decide to be good citizens even when their whole way of being ain't like a person's. The Admiral's either very dangerous and old, or some puffed up man with a magic item an' a lot of stupid ideas. Haven't figured out which just yet.

The Shadow Man? Because of the nature of your work with voodoo?

Very dangerous and very old if he can do what he claims to be able to do. Apparently Earth will have no ill effects of my leaving as long as I remain here even before my deal is fulfilled.

More or less - the fact that mine's alive helped matters too. My shadow, I mean.

I've seen folks from half a dozen times and, to hear tell it, worlds. ...I don't trust him. I don't know how any warden can.

Your shadow is alive?

[She leans forward with interest.]

I have not seen that before.

You are wise, Shadow Man, not to trust gods of any sort, especially ruling Gods. They do not play fair.

Little gift from the loa, guess it stayed with me.

[Shadow looms up behind Facilier and preens a little.]

I never trust anything that can make its own rules. I suppose if that's what the Admiral is, then it's a god bein' a god. But with his own little pretentions at bein' moral.

[Persephone waves at the shadow a little bit.]

All immortals have their pretensions at being mortal. It is what we do.

Moral, not mortal. Though I guess neither one's unheard of.
