[Persephone is... not actually in her garden. She's sitting on the deck and the stars are behind her. Unfamiliar stars with their unfamiliar stories.]

Now, in the Northern Hemisphere of Earth, the plants are stirring in the ground. They move through it, pressing forth and digging their roots more fully into the soft earth. They grow, moving instinctively towards the sun, fighting through the thawing ground. Winter's slowly shaken off as my mother's relief that I will be returning to her flows from her into the Earth. The world warms, and birds sing and animals start to come together...

And yet I am a prisoner here still.

I tire of this place.

[You are quickly moving past the cute point, nerd boy.]

I am Persephone.

[Uhm uhm uhm, he'll try harder!? To be cute, that is.]

...oh. That explains some stuff. [He never thought of Greek myths as being real, but especially given where he's from, he shouldn't be surprised here.] So you probably don't really like kidnappage, huh?

[There is a long sigh.]

And I hate pomegranates as well.

Dude, pomegranates are awesome! Except they turn your fingers purple, so that's annoying. And... the fact that there's the whole legend thing with you and the eating them and the tricking...

Uh, so, anyway, does it really suck that bad for you here?

[For a moment, Persephone just looks murderous, but she covers it with a normal scowl.]

Yes.

Why? I can't imagine it's worse than Hell. [Tact. Andrew lacks it.]

There is much of a difference between being the Queen of the Underworld and trapped aboard a barge of mortals.

Oh. Uh, so... you like being down there? Even though it was, like, a kidnapping and rape situation? I mean, I thought that's what it was... I always imagined you liked, like, not being in Hell. Or, uh, the Underworld.

[Persephone looks vaguely like she's going to vomit all over you Andrew.]

If I were there now I would be leaving for my proper home in a few months. I am not able to do that here. Nor do I have my full powers.

[And Andrew looks unaware of everything ever.]

Well... you're an inmate, right? Maybe that's, like, motivation to get better. I mean, at being a person or whatever.

I was a warden, you half-wit.

But... you're not now, right? You said you're a prisoner. What happened?

It is a long story that I am certain one of the mortals here will be pleased to tell.

Is everyone just "mortal" to you? Even, like, vampires? 'Cause it sounds like you're talking down to people, you know?

It's not the mortal thing so much that's condemned her. We've had other wardens similarly biased for or against a race, species, gender preference, creed or religion.

The fault rather lies with the fact not only does she no longer care for them, she's acted on these urges and has the impatience to do so again in the future.

I'm the Doctor, and I'm her warden. Ironically, she's lest trouble than the last "mortal" that was in my care.
